Florida Fishing Adventures
Being a native of Crystal River Florida has its perks; for starters there’s over 15 commercial fish species, there’s beautiful waters, and as one might imagine, no shortage of fishing hot spots. If you were born or live there and have a passion for fishing, you’re the envy of anglers from around the world.
Capt. Kyle Messier is a fortunate one. He grew up in and fished the area as teenager and also as a local commercial fisherman. Before his professional fishing career, Capt. Kyle earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education St. Leo University. During college, he worked as an area guide and like many other before him, he realized his academic path and true passion of fishing weren’t exactly aligned. Deciding to chase desire over the norm, in 2002 he gained his Captain’s license and 2004 put education aside to become a full-time guide. Since then, he hasn’t looked back and is now the owner and operator of Florida Fishing Adventures a multi-vessel, charter and guide service.
With over 200+ days per year on the water, Capt. Kyle is humble claiming that it’s really the clients that have helped his success. “They keep me sharp and continually gaining more experience” says Kyle. From sight to fly fishing, plugging and lots of catching, Kyle who’s Orvis endorsed and a certified fly casting instructor continues, “I enjoy teaching the art and skill of fly fishing and to helping my clients get the catch of a lifetime”. Translation: Clients come from all over the world because of Capt. Kyle’s vast knowledge of key fishing patterns, secrets creeks, coves, bayous and a apparent love of teaching both experienced and newbie anglers alike.
Operating from an ultra-customized 22-foot Sundance, the skiff is tricked out for optimal fishing performance. The modifications include flush decks, molded hatches, stainless steel hardware, custom trolling motor mount and built-in bucket holders. From the helm, perhaps the most impressive and unique part of this B22 is its one-of-a-kind flats tower which serves as a higher vantage point for sighting Redfish but also for targeting Tripletail and Cobia around area structures.
Describe Your Sundance:
My Sundance skiff is the ultimate fishing machine for most of my charters along the Nature Coast. Its shallow draft and semi v-hull make it the perfect all around boat for back-country and nearshore fishing.
